It was the first time this tournament was taken to embilipitiya.This was a boost to the entire area judo activities of the schools.A very large crowd gathererd,many parents were present,this was a significant factor. The guest of honour was welcomed by Kithsiri De Zoysa (President)on the first day of the Tournament. Over one hundred and sixty competitors participated.The tournament was very well organised.
Most of the Trophies were awarded by the Minister and other dignitaries.
Under 19 Girls,the overall winner was Miss Nadika Piyumali. Her Kumikata was excellent
Her favourite techniques were Ouchi Gari and Ippon Seionage.Good style.Future prospect.
Overall boys went to the National Youth Council- Saman Gunasekera.
Overall mens and womens trophies went to Sri Lanka Navy and the Police respectively.
